Tea Ceremony and Chinese Brush Painting
Healing, meditation, and spiritual pursuit have long been associated with Santa Fe’s community of alternative thinkers. Sunrise Springs resort offers a perfect setting for contemplation and reflection among its peaceful waters and gardens.
In keeping with these themes, Sunrise Springs will host you to a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony in their Tea House, Jo Shin An (Hut of the Nurturing Heart), led by master Tea Host, Natsuko West. The Way of Tea celebrates a philosophy of compassion and aesthetic refinement. Concurrently, artist Pat Marsello will guide you through the simple and elegant motions of traditional Chinese brushwork and calligraphy. Learning and practicing basic brush strokes on newsprint, you will translate your final work onto a beautiful handmade scroll, rolled up into a very portable and satisfying creation.
