Paint the Town in Santa Fe – Elderhostel Road Scholar – Adventures in Lifelong Learning

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Light and color have been captured by many artist’s palettes in the “Land of Enchantment”. Acquire a Southwest palette of colors to apply to your paintings. Enhance your creative talent painting the architecture and landscapes in and around Santa Fe, with indoor studio time too. A special painting excursion to Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, in the heart of Georgia O’Keeffe country, will provide scenic inspiration. Daily individual and group critiques on works in progress. Tips on matting and framing included. A fun-filled week for beginning and intermediate watercolor painters, culminating in a group show.

Some painting experience desirable, but prior instruction is not necessary. A palette with paints and limited materials are included in tuition. A list of supplies will be provided. Bring more if you wish!

Program in association with Ghost Ranch Education and Retreat Center.

Altitude 7,000 feet.

A cosmopolitan city famous for its world-renowned opera, chamber and choral music and for its art and artists, Santa Fe is situated at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Nearby, eight historic, continuously occupied pueblos and small Hispanic villages divulge a heritage that is impeccably preserved in this multi-cultural state capital.
