Camp Obscura
This is a ONE TIME experience
Camp Obscura, adventures in pinhole photography!
Viva la Fiesta - Viva la Pinhole!
This year celebrate our 297th Santa Fe Fiesta through a pinhole! We will use this unique and joyous time as a catalyst for great imagery and memories.
Join the town as we gather to cast away our troubles and burn "Old Man Gloom" better known as "Will Shuster's Zozobra", we

won't let him burn before our exclusive shoots!
See our families take the town in "Desfiles de la Gentiles", our local pet parade. Experiencing the camera obscura first hand we will gain an intimate understanding of the way light moves and images are revealed all while enjoying marching bands go by upside down and backwards!
Camp is held at the historic home of Olive Rush, currently the Friends Meeting House. The space is a beautiful adobe home with a rambling back yard situated about half way up Canyon Road.
In this beautiful small group setting we will build our 4x5 super wide pinhole cameras and get a hands on approach to the geometry of photography.
We will expose and develop images with photographic film and paper. Negatives will be digitally scanned for quick viewing while our printing will be done in the alternative process of Cyanotype and Van Dyke.
Enjoy a harvest of wonderful pinhole imagery and green chili and explore the history, art and techniques of this beautiful and intuitive process in its simplest and most rewarding form.
This time of year is the most beautiful in our beloved Santa Fe and we hope that you join camp obscura for adventures in pinhole photography and celebrate the light that surrounds us all during Fiesta Week 2009.
